Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment (also called Endodontics) saves a tooth from being removed.
This treatment is usually the last defence before a tooth extraction and can be caused by infection that has spread through the root canal system & may lead to an abscess. The period before treatment can be very painful and we will ensure we work quickly and effectively to start the healing process.
Using modern techniques and advanced equipment, we administer a local anaesthetic and the treatment overall should feel no different to having an ordinary filling placed.
The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection, the tooth is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle, with the tooth checked and permanently restored at a later visit.
Root canal treatment is a skilled procedure and some courses of treatment will involve two or more visits. We are fortunate to have respected endodontist Dr Maurice Levi working here at King Lane, who performs both simple & complex root treatments using an operating microscope.
